Review: This horror-comedy appeals mostly because of its oddity, which leans greatly in that direction. Death of a Unicorn pushes you into a weird world filled of legendary animals, satire, and hideous surprises, not playing it safe. Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega excel with a wonderful father-daughter relationship that gives the craziness heart. The film is visually interesting and keeps you wondering even if the tempo somewhat slows down in the middle. Although IMDb 6.3/10 and Rotten Tomatoes 54% have critics mixed, overall fans appear to value its novelty (JustWatch score: 75%).

The ending is odd, dark, and far from predictable. Death of a Unicorn is worth seeing even if it's not for everyone if you enjoy eccentric movies with a fresh idea and keen commentary.
